Therapeutic Foster Care for Seriously Mentally Ill Adults

Therapeutic Foster Homes provide a specialized foster care designed to create homes for Seriously Mentally Ill adults who would otherwise live in a Level II group home or facility. The foster homes implement the same strength-based programming that Intermountain employs in all of its work and strive to achieve the following goals for each client in the least restrictive environment:

The Therapeutic Foster Care providers assist their client in achieving his/her personal and individualized treatment goals and objectives. Through their therapeutic intervention, the families foster greater independence and self-sufficiency in their residents, assisting them to be involved in community activities and events that are educational, recreational and pro-social.

Each foster care provider recruited by Intermountain Centers receives training in strength-based behavioral analysis and in the specific needs of their client, counseling and support for the duration of time that a client is placed in their home, 24/7 therapeutic crisis intervention, and assistance in licensing of their home according to State of Arizona standards.
